As we rapidly approach the colder, wetter months of winter sometimes often below freezing its time to prepare your imprinted concrete driveway, this is so that it performs to its very best. As we all know winter can bring with it some unsavoury, unsafe conditions with imprinted concrete driveways becoming slippery on the foot.
It’s often a difficult decision how best to keep up and maintain a driveway even more so with a pattern imprinted concrete driveway.
You can often find misleading information from different sources, many without any experience. This then leaves you further confused for the best plan of action, so we’ve compiled our top tips below for you.
Here are our top five tips for you:
- Use salt and grit sparingly across the surface, too much could be corrosive to the concrete. Sand could be used as an alternative that would work just as well.
- Keep the driveway clean of debris such as stones, leaves and dirt, this will avoid the contaminated growth from staining the surface and trapping unwanted moisture to collect on the surface.
- If the driveway is a number of years old then it may require a new seal, this further protecting the surface and colour.
- Always use a stiff broom or brush rather than a shovel to remove ice and snow, this protecting the concrete from scrape marks. We’d recommend clearing the surface at the earliest opportunity, this is because the cycle of constant process of freezing and thawing with different temperatures has been known to crack concrete driveways. If you really have to use a shovel then choose one that’s plastic avoiding anything metal.
- If you use your vehicle and re-park on the driveway be sure not to of carried across any excessive salt from gritted roads.
Maintain – Pattern Imprinted Concrete Driveways
The best way to maintain your driveway is by professionally cleaning the surface with a high pressure power clean, then once dry re-sealing the surface, we’d recommend this to be performed annually in order to keep your imprinted concrete driveway in pristine condition.
