Buildadrive.com have the experience of working in groundworks for in excess of 25 years, we have installed recessed manhole covers across many driveways and patio areas all across Yorkshire during this time, so you can be assured we will get things right.
A recessed manhole cover allows you to camouflage what could potentially be an unsightly manhole located in your driveway, this is done with the same materials you have selected for your driveway, stopping the driveway area from being broken up.
How do we work? – Block Paving Driveway
For this example we will look at installing a recessed manhole cover into a block paved driveway.
The first step would be to excavate the driveway whilst leaving the existing manhole cover on this will prevent any debris and unwanted material from falling into the manhole itself. Once this has been completed we can then remove the manhole structure so that the frame and hole is exposed. Allowing us to sit flush onto the structure a new cover frame with cement.
Once secure the next step would be to level the recessed manhole cover with the new height of the driveway, this is to make sure the driveway is all one level.
The third stage is securely fit the recessed manhole cover so that the block paved driveway can be installed around the structure.
Lastly, we will lay the blocks on the recessed manhole cover so that they sit in uniform with the driveway, marking them where to cut, finally the blocks will be secured in place to complete the block paving driveway. The camouflaged manhole cover should effortlessly blend into the driveway as much as possible.
