- Application for resin bound is done via trowel, whereas with a bonded system the aggregates are scattered on top of the wet resin surface.
- With a bound system the appearance is uniform throughout the surface delivering a smooth finish, however with a resin bonded system this is varied forming a rough textured appearance.
- The thickness of a resin bound system is between 15-25mm once applied, the bonded system however isn’t as thick and is normally around 5mm.
- Aggregates used in a bound system consist of at least 2 types varying in size, whereas with a resin bonded system you will have just the one aggregate.
You will find that a resin bound surface is permeable and SUDS compliant, this means that water can pass through the surface, easily making its way to the native ground beneath. This is the opposite from a resin bonded surface.
As a result you won’t need planning permission for a resin bound surface, as it meets all specifications and requirements if installed correctly.
